Safety Glasses Required Past This Point

If you've been around the REIA for more than 15 minutes, you've probably heard the term "rehabbing".  As far as execution goes, most of our members will hire contractors to do the work of demo, framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and the myriad of other tasks involved.

Still, there are a few people who take property rehabbing as "physical therapy" and do some (or all) of the rehab work themselves.  While this can save you tens of thousands of dollars on a project in labor costs, it's often ill-advised because of the time constraints and the cost of funding.

But what if you come across a property that needs very little?  More than paint and carpet; maybe one wall moved, removed, or added, or moving one bathroom fixture.  Could you do the framing, the electrical, the plumbing yourself and save a lot of money?  Some jobs are just too small for many contractors, so you face the task of actually finding someone who is competent, available, and won't charge you an arm and a leg.  Good luck.

We want to show you how to do some of the fundamental work inside of a rehab.  And this will NOT be sitting at a desk watching some pictures on the screen.  We are talking about live, participating, get-your-hands-dirty rehabbing work where you will be watching an instructor, then doing it yourself.

Who Should Attend

Anyone interested in learning how to do basic rehab construction work should attend.  Also, anyone that already has some of these skills and is looking for a wintertime outlet should come play, too.

There will be no sit-down classroom.  This educational opportunity is almost 100% hands-on "doing the work" training.  You will come away with a working knowledge of how to do quite a few things that you may need or want to do in your own business.

SAFETY

We will emphasize safety, and show you how to be appropriately safe on the job site for typical exposures.  All participants will be required to purchase their own safety equipment such as safety glasses and steel-toed shoes.  We will not require complicated or extreme protective gear such as hazmat suits or hard-hats.

REGISTER BELOW TO HOLD YOUR SPOT

Once you register here for this class, you'll get a link to sign up for the days and time blocks that you want to come and participate.  You will need to bring certain Safety Apparel and some basic tools.  You can get a list of these by clicking the button below.  You'll also need to print out and execute the Construction Waiver & Release and get it back to Rachel before you can be on the job site.

We will be using power tools, pneumatic tools, and regular ol' manual tools.  We will provide the large expensive tools and show you how to use them.  You will be required to bring a few basic tools that you're going to need to have if you do this work.  These are not expensive tools; just check out the list from the download above and go get them.
